"Christ made my soul beautiful with the jewels of grace and virtue. I belong to Him whom the angels serve." - Saint Agnes
She was only 12 or 13 when all this happened to her. Agnes was ordered to sacrifice to a pagan god, but instead, she made the sign of the cross. Serveral men offered to marry her, but she refused saying that it would be an insult to her heavenly Spouse, and that she would keep her consecrated virginity intact, accept death, and see Christ. She was tortured in a terrible way. When she was finally sentenced to death in a public square by the sword, many close by Christians were inspired by her faith, and began to profess their faith in front of all the soldiers and Roman officials. Many other people began to cry out that they wanted to become a Christian too.
